Art Journalists - Maddy and Taylor

Artist Amy Wrigley
Amy has sent us a very unique piece of art and has wanted us to tell you a little more about the art. She has been working on this for about a week, and has done all her finishing touches, done all the specific details and sent it to us. She has done a fantastic job. Amy also told us how she might have gotten her wonderful artistic skills. She thought she got them from her dad, who used to be an engineer. Her work is amazing and we would love to see more.

Featured Fiction- By Novah
I lie wide awake in bed listening to every sound trying to count sheep but  i keep hearing a scratching noise on the wooden floor boards but when it stops after 5 minutes. I close my eyes .
Right at that moment I hear growling,

The scuttling noise had disturbed Michael, and he’d shot upright in bed. After taking a deep breath, he flung himself onto the smooth wooden boards of his bedroom floor and took a peek…what he saw was indescribable  a drooling mouth, long  sharp nails, long black hair that covered her face, pale skin with jet black dirt marks all over her.

as i run to the wide open door
I hear a growl . the door shuts and locks me inside  i shake the doorknob as hard a i could but i hear her coming closer and closer and closer until she looked me dead right in the eye it felt like she was looking into my soul then i fell to the floor to a pillow on my bed then i realized i was asleep .

That morning i kept thinking about that unusual creature , i felt like i have seen it somewhere but i can’t really put the image together i wonder if that creature would come back .that night i was in the same position as the last night wide awake, scratching noises, and then it stops but this time i hear water dripping

when i close my eyes i thought someone had just went to the kitchen but forgot to turn the tap right off because they just hadn't woken up yet and went start back to bed so i crept out of bed and slowly went to the door  but when i go out of my room i hear it coming from the bathroom so i go in what i find is the unusual creature standing right in front of me this time in a different form it had dark red eyes, short black hair and claws that could make your chest feel the pain even if it doesn't touch you then i tried to run but it closed it i feel a shake but its not touching me i open my eyes i see my dad he’s telling me i am late for school.
By Taylor Dorset

The start of the story just hooks me in.  I enjoyed how it gave me a image in my mind. I love the first paragraph starting on a normal concept counting sheep then the story evolves after I hear the word “growling.”  it just gives me an enthusiastic vibe when Taylor describes words like these.

As we enter the second paragraph the word scuttling catches my eyes.  I like this type of vocabulary because you can make up any word you want, use it in your story, and everyone still knows what it means! I find it easy to make that word a verb, as an example, scuttling.

I really admire how Taylor used the narrator’s dream for the story it was really clever.  Thank You Taylor for your incredible story.
